Community Outreach
My art practice embraces an everything-but-the-kitchen-sink approach, combining media from print, ceramics, film, installation and book arts. My subject matter draws from creative non-fiction (i.e. based on a true story), with an eye for graphic design, pattern, and poetics. My exhibition record spans more than two decades, and my work has been exhibited across Canada from British Columbia to Newfoundland, as well as in New York, California and venues in Europe. I have received numerous grants: Canada Council for the Arts, Ontario Arts Council, Kitchener Waterloo Community Foundation, along with the Lois Claxton Humanities and Social Sciences Award. I have expertise in public art and community outreach through my own studio practice, my role as director of S.A.I.L. (Student Art Innovation Lab), and as Programming Chair and Board Director with CAKFA. I am an Associate Professor in the Department of Fine Arts at the University of Waterloo. I live in Kitchener with my husband and sometimes collaborator, Terry O’Neill, and our dogs, Pickles, and Peanut. Kitchener is situated on the traditional territory of the Neutral, Anishinaabeg and Haudensaunee Peoples.
